Position
Ramona builds advanced computational microscopes that generate uniquely rich imaging data. Our customers are scientists who rely on us to explore and visualize their data across platforms — from local machines to the cloud. We are looking for a Software Engineer to help design, build, and test the applications that power this experience.
In this role, you will work at the intersection of backend engineering, testing, and image data workflows. You’ll be responsible for building the infrastructure that ensures performance, scalability, and reliability while enabling our users to make discoveries with confidence.
What Gets You Excited
- Developing and maintaining scalable backend infrastructure for data management and analysis
- Building robust testing methodologies, pipelines, and automation to ensure software reliability
- Designing and optimizing data storage formats tailored for scientific imaging
- Benchmarking and improving performance across CPUs, GPUs, and cloud platforms
- Documenting designs, workflows, and processes for technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Exploring and integrating emerging technologies that enhance scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency
What Gets Us Excited
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Strong proficiency in Python, with a solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and optimization
- Experience designing and implementing scientific or high-performance data storage formats (e.g., HDF5, TIFF, JSON, SQL/NoSQL)
- Familiarity with benchmarking and optimizing performance for modern hardware architectures (multi-core CPUs, GPUs, or accelerators)
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and distributed systems (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, and attention to detail
- A collaborative mindset with a commitment to scientific integrity
